Year of the Cat

We are back from Vietnam. It was a great short trip and I'll tell all about it soon, but this is a quicker post than that will be.  This weekend is the start of Chinese New Year - out with the ox; in with the tiger. We have no plans. It's a fairly quiet time in the city, the only time all year you'll see some places of business close. Many people travel, but we did that last week, ahead of the masses. They celebrate in Vietnam as well, Tet as they call it. It's a time to begin again...

And so we begin again in Singapore. Some of you have been aware of the possibility for a few months now. Paul's department is moving there and he will follow, and I will follow him (hey, that could have been my title!). We were all but certain we'd be going which is why we made the trek home for Christmas, but last Monday he finally had the official conversation and finally confirmed his willingness to finish out the third year of his contract in Singapore. So it's officially official and it's happening quickly!

It doesn't matter that I've known it would eventually happen... I kept telling myself it would be delayed for one reason or another. Turns out those GS people can be remarkably efficient. Paul starts work there on Monday, March 15. We will move that weekend. Now we are beginning all the tasks of organizing the move, filling out papers, getting visas, etc., just like we did two years ago. We are also taking a trip to Singapore for a week to receive an orientation of the place and begin the home search. I think we're going on February 21. It's not booked yet.

That's the current news. Singapore is still a good travel hub, so don't worry - I'll remain an active travel planner. And the blog could use some refreshing after two years. New place, new stories!
